Hurricanes Helene, then Milton grabbed the USA up by the short hairs with the ultra-serious question: what the fu . . .? This is 2004. What has Mother Nature got on her plate for 2004. Can there really be some sort of a global waming type thing? How many people are walking around in the mountains, trying to figure out where all that rain came from that washed everything away. I can’t even go to the big box store and let my family sleep in the car cause that washed away and I can’t take the kids and move down to Florida cause old Milton wiped out my brother, all my . . ..
And now, LA LA Land is burning right to the ground. The fat cats are building rockets to blast off for some dusty old shit hole planets in outer space, not even gonna clean up their disgusting mess here on our planet. What the fuck are all these uber rich ones up to.

Gold, platinum, cobalt, palladium and iron are just some of the precious metals known to be present in some of the asteroids in our solar system.
The asteroid belt has a mass of something like 2 x 10^18 tonnes. gold abundance in chondrites is 170 ppb on average. That will roughly reflect average gold content in asteroids as well. So it should be something like 340 billion tons. The current price for gold 14k gold is $2,703.44 per ounce. That’s somewhere around $40k per pound. Go figure. And, asteroids are jammin with all the metals.
What the heck are all these little rocket-boy 1% up to with all their minions in D.C. and all over the globe up to?
Naturally, SPACE RACE USA will weave all sorts of writing into our broadcasts. Substack is such a fab gathering spot and the incidents from the amazing history of writers and the written word getting put down on paper or in digital processors or carved in stone or whatever and the meaning of that massive collection of thoughts are the great well of musing that sidebars will be exhumed for our readers.
As we have already said: this is an enormous source of material, AND, we will dig into theatre, movies, the lives and times of writers and on and on with tidbits like Dorothy Parker at the Algonquin and Count Tolstoy’s relating with Queen Victoria and the arrangements for the Doukhobór migration to British Columbia and on and on and on. Including tidbits that are right off the wall and just pop up from nowhere.
And, as you also know, our Chair at Solid Footing loves brief busts of news best of all. And, Shroom is a true individualist, an iconoclast.
Shroom’s favorite pastime is an afternoon nap. After crawling up into the nest of a huge old sycamore down by the river, Shroom eats a few mushrooms and moves to the world of in-between, the cushion of sleep and wild realm of dreams.
